Four wins, nine podiums and three pole positions in the 2024 season: Haupt Racing Team (HRT) celebrates its second team title in the ADAC GT Masters this year
In its second year in the ADAC GT Masters, the Haupt Racing Team was once again the measure of all things: with four victories, a total of nine podium finishes and three pole positions, the Mercedes-AMG team managed to defend their team title in the long-standing series. Only Reiter Engineering and Prosperia C Abt Racing have previously achieved this feat.
The team from Drees wrapped up the title at the season finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. David Schumacher and last year’s champion Salman Owega played the biggest part in the team’s repeat success in one of three Mercedes-AMG GT3s.
The two won the first endurance race and the 250th ADAC GT Masters championship race in front of their home crowd at the Nürburgring. The two Mercedes-AMG drivers celebrated their third victory in the season’s 11th race at Hockenheim. At the Red Bull Ring, Jannes Fittje and Finn Wiebelhaus were the next HRT drivers to sign the list of winners, giving the team their fourth victory of the season.
Max Reis and Kwanda Mokoena in the third car also brought the team good moments. Right at the season opener at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the two finished third, thus securing the first podium finish of the season.
“Stick to this concept in the future”
The Mercedes-AMG team entered a fourth car at the Red Bull Ring: Dennis Fetzer and team owner Hubert Haupt were fast right from the start and took victory in the ProAm classification twice. This was a first in the ADAC GT Masters, as never before had a single team entered four cars at once.
Ulrich Fritz, CEO of Haupt Racing Team GmbH, praised his team’s outstanding performance and gave an outlook on the coming season: “Defending the team title in the ADAC GT Masters with four race wins and five further podium finishes has confirmed our concept of promoting young talent. Our young drivers have developed extremely positively over the course of the season.”
“All our driver pairings were on the podium at least once, which is a testament to the balance and performance of our team. We would like to continue with this concept in the future and support young talent in the ADAC GT Masters.”
The ADAC GT Masters will hold a total of six events at attractive race tracks in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria in 2025. These include the premiere at the Salzburgring from September 5th to 9th. At four of the stops, the drivers will be able to prove themselves in the exciting environment of the DTM. The season opener at the Dekra Lausitzring from May 23rd to 25th marks the start of HRT’s renewed bid for the title.
