“Sportingly easy”: Albers extends at Regensburg

Last weekend he was the acclaimed match-winner, a few days later there is cause for joy again for Andreas Albers: The Dane has extended his contract at Jahn Regensburg.

In the 3-2 win against Erzgebirge Aue, Albers scored the late, emotional winning goal for SSV Jahn, securing not only the fifth win of the season for his team, but also the top spot in the 2nd Bundesliga. However, the 31-year-old striker is not only appreciated as a goal scorer, he also plays an important role on and off the pitch – and has now extended his contract until 2024.

“In the game against the ball he is an aggressive pressing player, in the game with the ball he is a central fixture and starting point in the final third,” says managing director Christian Keller about the attacker, who he also attests “a great willingness to work hard, a willingness to run and a high level of game intelligence. “

2019 arrived from Denmark

Albers stressed that he feels comfortable in Regensburg, which is why the decision was “easy for him from a sporting point of view”, as he says himself. “Admittedly, it wasn’t easy at first due to the Corona pandemic, as it was for many others. But it all worked out, we are getting on better and better, feel very comfortable here and are happy to stay in Regensburg for a few more years.”

The 1.93-metre striker had arrived in the Upper Palatinate from Danish first division club Viborg FF in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has played 81 competitive games for Jahn, scoring 23 goals and providing ten assists.
