Spectacular coaching return of Ivan Lendl

Tennis ace Andy Murray has a new, old coach. He is working with Ivan Lendl again with immediate effect. It was with him that the Briton celebrated his greatest successes.

Former world number one Andy Murray is bringing back Ivan Lendl as his coach. Four and a half years after the pair split, Lendl and the 34-year-old tennis player plan to work together again, Murray’s manager announced on Friday. After the tournament in Miami, which ends at the beginning of April, Lendl and Murray are planning a training block of several weeks in the United States.

Murray, who is currently ranked 84th in the world after a long injury break, recorded his greatest successes under Lendl. The Czech-born and now US-American led the Briton to successes such as Olympic gold in 2012 and 2016 as well as victories at the US Open and Wimbledon. Lendl was also the coach of Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev for a while, but their collaboration ended after less than a year.

As a player, Lendl was one of Boris Becker’s great rivals in the 1980s and 1990s. He spent 270 weeks at the top of the world rankings and won eight Grand Slam titles.
