Dietloff von Arnim has been elected for the first time to the Board of Directors of the International Tennis Federation
Dietloff von Arnim has been elected to the World Tennis Federation’s “Board of Directors” for the first time a few hours after his defeat in the election of the ITF President. The board, of which the President of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) is now a member, was appointed for four years at the ITF Congress in Cancun/Mexico.
The Düsseldorf native is one of 14 members and succeeds former DTB President Ulrich Klaus, who was a member of the board from 2019 to 2023. Previously, von Arnim had clearly failed in his main mission, the race for the presidency of the world federation.
“Running for the office of ITF President and the associated election campaign was a unique and enriching experience for me,” said von Arnim: “I ran because I am convinced that something has to change. I will also work for this as a member of the Board with a lot of motivation and commitment.”
Von Arnim had been the only candidate against incumbent David Haggerty (USA) in the presidential election, who was confirmed for another four years with 318 votes (72.94 per cent). Von Arnim, who had previously campaigned intensively on his own behalf and, among other things, wanted to advocate a reform of the Davis Cup, received only 118 votes (27.06 per cent) in the secret ballot.
The Board of Directors is responsible for strategic decisions in the World Tennis Federation. It also manages the ITF’s finances and appoints subordinate bodies.
