Slot succession clarified: Priske is the new coach at Feyenoord

Jürgen Klopp set the ball rolling with his departure from Liverpool, which has now landed the Dane Brian Priske in Rotterdam

The end of Jürgen Klopp’s long and successful era at Liverpool FC cost Feyenoord Rotterdam its coach, as Arne Slot, who had led the Dutch side to the 2022/23 championship and most recently to the runners-up spot, succeeded the German coach at the Reds. The gap left by Slot at Feyenoord has now been filled by Brian Priske, as the club announced on Wednesday.

Priske will take up his position at the traditional club on July 1 and has signed a three-year contract until 2027.

The new coach most recently spent two years at Sparta Prague – and was extremely successful. The 47-year-old led Prague to its first league title in nine years in his very first year in 2023 and even won the league and cup double last season.

Priske is “the logical and therefore best choice for everyone involved”, explained Dennis te Kloese, Feyenoord’s general and technical director: “After all, he has already shown at several clubs that he makes the players better, advocates the attacking soccer that people like to see in De Kuip and achieves results with it. “

Cup winners and champions in Denmark

Priske also had a successful spell at FC Midtjylland, where he won the Danish Cup in 2019 and the championship in 2020
