“Shocked at this treatment” – DFB parts ways with eNational coach ‘STYLO’

Three weeks after the disappointment at the FIFAe Nations Cup, the DFB has announced the separation from eNational coach and head coach Matthias ‘STYLO’ Hietsch. The latter, in turn, voiced clear criticism of the way.

I was shocked by this handling“, Matthias ‘STYLO’ Hietsch told eSport. He said he was disappointed with the communication of his resignation as head coach of the German eNational team: “I think it’s because of the Round of 16 exit at the eNations Cup. That’s all I was told.” That would “not do justice” to the almost four-year relationship between him and the DFB.

The final communication to ‘STYLO’ was by phone, but there are said to have been considerably more exchanges in recent weeks. Lars Prüßmeier – eFootball manager of the DFB – confirmed “two disappointing FIFAe Nations Cups with unsatisfactory results”.

The 2022 FIFAe Nations Cup had already ended in the round of 16. At that time, it was a clear defeat against Italy. Around three weeks ago, the national team was knocked out of this year’s edition again in the round of 16 against Finland – even though they had already led 2-0 in the aggregate.

Internal succession solution likely

“We have done an analysis and follow-up. With the result that we want to line up with another head coach in the future in order to be able to meet our high goals,” said Prüßmeier. He did not want to name any candidates for the succession.

Daniel ‘Fehrminator‘ Fehr and Benedikt ‘SaLz0r’ Saltzer, who are already part of the eFootball coaching staff at the DFB – and could move up internally – are considered favourites. Fehrminator’ in particular has recently recommended himself as coach of RB Leipzig with the triumph at the FIFAe Club World Cup. In 2022, ‘Fehrminator’ could already make a name for himself thanks to the individual World Cup title of his protégé Umut ‘RBLZ_Umut’ Gültekin.
