Inter Milan struggled for a long time against Udinese Calcio, then a shirt tug changed everything and within seven minutes the Nerazzurri set the course for victory
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made two changes after the 3-0 win in Naples: Bisseck and Bastoni, who made his comeback after more than a month out injured, replaced de Vrij and Dumfries.
Udine coach Gabriele Cioffi made only one change to the starting eleven compared to the 3-3 draw against Hellas Verona: Lucca started in the center of the attack for Success
Inter were the dominant team from the start, with Udine focusing on protecting their own goal. The Friulian side’s many-legged defense managed this quite well for a long time – with one exception: In the 11th minute, a header from Lautaro Martinez hit the right post.
The picture remained the same: Inter pushed Udine back to their own penalty area and almost put on a power play. However, the Nerazzurri did not really create any major chances, with Udine rather annoying with a solid defense. However, one pluck was to change everything
Within seven minutes, Inter made the early decision
Because in the 33rd minute, Perez held Lautaro Martinez in the penalty area. So clearly that referee Marco di Bello should have whistled for a penalty immediately, and not just after the VAR intervened. Be that as it may – after a long few minutes, Calhanoglu was allowed to take action and converted safely to make it 1:0 (37′).
Then the dams broke at Udine, the hitherto so strong defense fell apart into a torso – the receipt was then presented by Dimarco with a dry left-footed shot (42) and Thuram completely free in front of goal (44).
Little or almost nothing happened in the second half: With a secure lead behind them, Inter took it easy, but Udine were not exactly bursting with attacking energy either.
And so time passed, interrupted only by numerous changes. In the 69th minute, the ball did find its way into the net. However, Udine center forward Lucca was offside when he finished and the goal was rightly disallowed.
However, Inter still had one highlight in their quiver: In the 84th minute, Lautaro Martinez won the ball in the center circle against Payero. The Inter captain was allowed to stroll halfway across the pitch and shoot in unchallenged. It was a simple routine for the world champion.
The score remained 4:0 – Inter defended their lead at the top of the table ahead of Juventus, while Udine remained deep in the basement
Inter are back in action next Tuesday, when they face Real Sociedad in their final Champions League group game at 9pm. Udine face Sassuolo on Sunday (3pm).
