Due to many Corona cases in the football teams, the second Italian league has postponed the matchdays on 26 and 29 December.
This means the championship will resume on January 15, 2022 with the 19th matchday now suspended, Serie B announced on Thursday after a federation meeting with a government representative and the clubs. Two matchdays would be played during the week in February for that purpose.
“Unfortunately, we had a problem with Omikron, respectively with the virus that caught some clubs,” league president Mauro Balata told Sky Sport. Serie B players include goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon of Parma FC.
