Serena Williams has been showing the tennis world what it has been missing whilst she has been away on maternity leave. She has stormed into the quarter-finals so it would be a mistake to rule her out from picking up another Grand Slam title.
It is not just her performances that have been the topic of conversation either, as her choice of clothing is also catching attention. Serena is no stranger to making fashion statements, as we saw at the Royal Wedding but this time it is not her great fashion sense that is drawing comments. It is the fact that she is choosing to wear ice-skating tights in what could turn out to be the hottest Wimbledon tournament ever.
Temperatures soaring at Wimbledon
Players and fans are more used to rain stopping play at Wimbledon, than worrying about whether they have applied enough sun-cream but this year the temperatures have soared. So maybe Serena didn’t check the weather forecast before she packed her things ready for Wimbledon. After being away from the game for so long, many tennis experts wondered whether she would be able to perform to the levels we have become accustomed to from her but there has been no concerns around that.
Why is Serena Williams wearing tights to play tennis?
But surely she must be sweltering hot when wearing a pair of tights that are more often used in cold climates. During this heat wave, the last thing you would expect to see players wearing is additional clothing like tights but if she is winning and doing well, who cares? She is obviously doing something right, so if she wants to wear tights in 80-degree heat then who are we to question her choice of clothing!
