After the opening win against Partizan Belgrade, Alba Berlin also won the second game in the Euroleague: In Milan, the Berliners won 80:74, but only in the overtime.
The Berliners won 80-74 (70-70, 38-30) after overtime at Italian champion Emporio Armani Milan. What coach Israel Gonzalez must have liked about the victory against the three-time title holders was the great strength of nerve his team showed.
Two minutes before the end of regulation time, the Berliners were ahead by five points (70:65), but they then gave the lead away to seal the victory in overtime – thanks to a 6:0 run in the last 80 seconds.
Tamir Blatt and Jaleen Smith were Berlin’s top scorers with 13 points each, while German international Johannes Voigtmann scored five for Milan.
Next Wednesday is the next highlight in Berlin, when the Greek top club Panathinaikos Athens will be visiting.
