Toyota is entering five Rally1 cars in Spain, with Sebastien Ogier competing in the Canary Islands Rally on the Canary Islands in Spain from April 24 to 27.
Sebastien Ogier returns to the World Rally Championship and will compete for Toyota at the Islas Canarias Rally from April 24 to 27. The eight-time world champion is doing a part-time season in 2025 and will make his second appearance of the year at the Spanish asphalt rally, which is being included in the WRC calendar for the first time.
The event is celebrating its WRC debut, having previously been a permanent fixture on the European Rally Championship (ERC) calendar. Toyota is entering a total of five Yaris Rally1 cars – alongside Ogier, Elfyn Evans, Kalle Rovanperä, Takamoto Katsuta and Sami Pajari will also be competing.
Despite his time out in Sweden and Kenya, Ogier is currently ranked fourth in the overall standings. This is due to his commanding victory at the season opener in Monte Carlo, where he secured his tenth triumph at the traditional rally.
In contrast to last year, when he took part in ten rounds, Ogier will compete in fewer events in 2025. This is also related to Toyota’s decision to field four full-time drivers. His further program has not yet been determined.
The Canary Islands Rally offers the first real comparison between the new Hankook asphalt tires in dry conditions. In addition, the new fuel from TotalEnergies will be used for the first time. The French brand is taking over the role of official fuel supplier with immediate effect, after P1 Racing Fuels filed for bankruptcy.
In preparation for the event, Toyota and Hyundai will compete in the ERC opener in Sierra Morena this weekend – on comparable Spanish asphalt. WRC leader Evans drives a GR Yaris, while world champion Thierry Neuville takes the wheel for Hyundai.
The Rally Islas Canarias will take place from April 24 to 27 and will feature 18 special stages covering a total distance of 301.30 kilometers.
