Sebastian Neumann new Würzburg sports director

The Würzburg  club have signed a new sports director. With Sebastian Neumann a familiar face takes over the role at the third division club.

The Würzburg club announced the new personnel on Thursday on the club website. “I am very happy about the confidence of the club officials,” said Neumann. “I have had extensive opportunity in recent days to present my plans and conceptual ideas for the sporting direction and development.  Overall, it is a great challenge which I will tackle with full dedication and passion.”

My goal is to have the boys’ backs so they can focus only on football.

Neumann was a player himself at Würzburg from 2016 to 2018, and since 2020 the 30-year-old has been responsible as transition coordinator from the NLZ to the professionals of Würzburg and held the sporting management of the U-19 team. So there is already a close connection to the club: “I already know the boys very well and have been intensively involved with the team recently. My goal is to keep the boys’ backs free so that they can only concentrate on football,” Neumann is quoted as saying.

Seuling will “continue to stand by him “

Christian Jäger, chairman of the board, was delighted with the signing: “It’s a good day for Würzburg. Sebastian knows the club and all the people around him very well. In addition, I have come to know him as a committed person. With his hard and thorough way of working, he will take the club forward.”

As sports director, Neumann will continue to receive support from Jochen Seuling, who most recently took over the position on an interim basis. Seuling spoke of an “excellent choice”, saying he would “continue to stand by the new incumbent”.
