Schulz mourns Foreman: “Legacy will live forever”

Former heavyweight world champion passed away on Friday at the age of 76. German boxer Axel Schulz mourns his passing.

Former heavyweight boxer Axel Schulz has been saddened by the death of former world champion George Foreman. “He is simply one of the greatest worldwide. He has achieved so much and will be remembered forever,” Schulz said on RTL: “His legacy will live forever. George is simply an absolute legend.”

Foreman passed away on Friday at the age of 76 “peacefully in the presence of his loved ones,” the family announced on Saturday. Schulz, who lost to Foreman in the most controversial fight of his life in 1995, called the American an “incredible” personality: “He had an incredible charisma, super, super positive. He was always nice to everyone and always had an open ear. He showed me that boxers can also be human.”

Foreman showed that ‘boxers can also be soft.’ ‘We may be tough boxers, but we are still human. And humanity outweighed everything in George,’ said Schulz.

For Wladimir Klitschko, “Big George leaves a big gap in the world boxing family and beyond,” he wrote on X: “He wrote our most beautiful pages and a great story. We will never forget him. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans. Rest in peace, champ.”
