Dennis Schröder wants to play for the national team again. The Houston Rockets point guard announced on Monday his participation in the European Championship from September 1 to 18, which will take place in Cologne and Berlin, among other cities.
Last summer, Schröder had missed the Olympic Games in Tokyo because the German Basketball Federation was unable to take out insurance cover for the power forward despite all its efforts. Schröder had speculated on a new NBA contract worth more than 100 million dollars, which no insurance company had wanted to cover. However, the point guard had supported the German team as a spectator at the qualifying tournament in Split.
Next team in summer?
Just last week, the 28-year-old was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Houston Rockets in an exchange with his buddy Daniel Theis. However, his contract there expires again in the summer.
Next weekend, the Braunschweig native plans to come to Berlin to support the Basketball Löwen in the Top Four tournament, as his new manager Marcus Höfl announced on Monday. Schröder is the club’s sole shareholder.
