Dennis Schröder once again put in a strong performance, leading his Brooklyn Nets to a 119:106 victory in Memphis. The Grizzlies made life difficult for themselves with 22 turnovers.
The captain of the German national team scored 33 points, made eight assists and was particularly convincing in the decisive moments when Memphis wanted to start a run. Schröder hit a total of six threes. With this victory, the Nets have now won two of the last three games.
Turnover plague of the Grizzlies
Schröder was mainly supported by Cam Thomas, who contributed 19 points, and Ziaire Williams, who shone against his former team with 17 points and four steals. Rookie Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke scored 13 points each, with Clarke making all five of his shots.
While Brooklyn relied on a disciplined team performance, the Grizzlies were plagued by turnovers time and again. A total of 22 turnovers led to 31 points for the Nets, which ruined the chances of Memphis staging a comeback.
Morant and Jackson fight against defeat
For the Grizzlies, it was mainly Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant who fought against defeat. Jackson scored 30 points and made all three of his three-pointers, but Memphis lacked towards the end. Morant put in an all-round performance with 14 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, although he only managed to drain five of his 16 shots.
The Grizzlies were also hit by injury problems: Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart had to leave the game early, further weakening an already battered team.
In the final phase, Memphis were already behind when Coach Taylor Jenkins was forced to put a young, inexperienced lineup on court to give Jackson and Morant short breaks. Although the two stars returned towards the end, the Nets now clearly had the momentum.
