Schedule: The most important dates up to the 2022 World Cup

The 2022 World Cup will begin in Qatar in around a year. The most important milestones up to the start of the tournament.

A World Cup draw before all tickets have been awarded, the Nations League in the middle of June, a Bundesliga winter break in November: things are different in the run-up to the next World Cup. Because Qatar will play from November 21st to December 18th in 2022 , i.e. shortly before Christmas, the football calendar had to be adjusted in many places in the new year.

2021

November 11th to 16th, 2021: Last World Cup qualifiers in Europe

November 26, 2021: Draw for the European World Cup play-offs in Zurich

November 30 to December 18, 2021: FIFA Arab Cup with 23 Arab teams as a dress rehearsal for World Cup hosts Qatar (replaces the Confed Cup)

December 16, 2021: Draw for the Nations League groups

2022

March 24-29, 2022: European World Cup play-offs ; DFB-Elf with two test matches

April 1, 2022: Draw of the World Cup groups in Doha

2nd to 14th June 2022: Nations League, 1st to 4th matchday

June 2022: Intercontinental play-offs (determination of the last two World Cup participants)

August 5, 2022: Bundesliga opener 2022/23

22nd to 27th September 2022: Nations League, 5th and 6th matchday

End of October 2022: World Cup squad nomination (changes possible up to one day before the first group game)

November 11th to 13th, 2022: Last Bundesliga matchday before World Cup

November 14, 2022: Start of the World Cup suspension period

November 21, 2022: World Cup kick-off
