Schalk lets Urawa celebrate against Club Leon – ManCity awaits in the semi-finals

The Urawa Red Diamonds have reached the next round of the Club World Cup against Club Leon from Mexico. The golden goal was scored by Dutchman Alex Schalk in the final quarter of an hour

In the first quarter-final of the Club World Cup, the Asian representative, the Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan, narrowly beat Club Leon. The game remained goalless for a long time on Friday afternoon (CET), but then a pass from Kanté found Schalk, who ran into the penalty area and took the chance to score with a right-footed shot.

When William Tesillo was shown a yellow card in the 84th minute, it was just a formality for the Japanese side to salvage the 1-0 win and advance to the semi-finals.

Champions League winners Manchester City now await the Red Diamonds. The match kicks off at 7pm (CET) on Tuesday.

The second semi-finalist for the Club World Cup was determined on Friday evening by the African representative Al Ahly (Egypt) with ex-Cologne player Anthony Modeste and Al-Ittihad FC from Saudi Arabia. The duel ended 3:1 for the club from Egypt’s capital Cairo.

The winner will face Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense Rio de Janeiro from Brazil
