In early July, he had complained of shortness of breath during his first-round match at Wimbledon. He then passed out in the dressing room. Now Yibing Wu collapsed again.
Tennis pro Yibing Wu collapsed at the ATP 500 tournament in Washington on Monday. The Chinese was leading 4:1 in the first set against Yōsuke Watanuki when he suddenly began to stagger and fell forward into his chair. This was reported by the “Bild” newspaper on Tuesday.
A ball boy who noticed the incident then rushed to the player and took care of him. Medical assistants arrived shortly afterwards, supported the visibly dazed Wu and helped him sit down. The staff subsequently decided that the match was over for Wu.
Yibing Wu has collapsed and been forced to retire from a match weeks after his body went faint at Wimbledon.
Earlier in the month while playing against the American, Wu was seen by medics after bowing his head in his chair, with his heart rate measured to be 187.

The incident raises eyebrows. It was the second time in a few weeks that the 23-year-old had collapsed in a match. Wu had complained of breathing problems in his first round match at Wimbledon against Frances Tiafoe. Although he collapsed and was unconscious on his way to the dressing room, according to media reports, he played the match to the end – and lost.
His opponent at the time later said: “He had problems with his heart. It felt like he was going to collapse there.” Wu had a high pulse of 187, according to medics.Read more here.
