Sauber with problems in Monza

A rear suspension defect ended Felipe Massa’s and the Sauber team’s test day prematurely

Only 17 laps were completed by Felipe Massa on today’s second day of testing in Monza, naturally placing him at the bottom of the standings. A problem with the drive shaft caused suspension damage, so that the Sauber team had to end the testing early. It is particularly bitter that Sauber had planned an extensive programme because of yesterday’s bad weather

“A problem with a driveshaft caused damage to the rear left suspension,” explained race engineer Giampaolo Dall’Ara. “The incident happened as Felipe was approaching the first chicane, but at least he was able to keep control of the car. We have decided to interrupt today’s test day. We are now carrying out a thorough analysis to understand the exact reasons and plan to continue our test programme tomorrow. “
