Sabalenka continues to struggle

Aryna Sabalenka needs over two hours for her two-set victory in the third round of the Australian Open.

Aryna Sabalenka is the first top favorite to reach the third round of the Australian Open after a lot of hard work. In the 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over the strong Danish Clara Tauson, however, the title defender needed over two hours before she converted her match point.

“It was a fantastic fight, she played incredible tennis,” said Sabalenka, who had to give up her serve five times against Tauson, who had beaten Tatjana Maria in the second round. The world number one can become the first player since the Swiss Martina Hingis (1997-1999) to win the tournament three times in a row in Melbourne. In the round of 16, Sabalenka could face teenage hopeful Mirra Andreyeva (17).
