Roofe fit for starting eleven – Ramsey’s presence should help

As of Thursday morning, Glasgow Rangers look set to be able to rely on the services of Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey for their Europa League semi-final against Leipzig.

The Jamaican striker has been suffering from knee problems since the cup semi-final at Celtic (2-1 after extra-time) and has missed the last three games for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side. The 29-year-old, who has scored 16 goals in 35 competitive appearances for “The Gers” so far, was spotted in final training, as was midfielder Ramsey.

Ramsey’s presence should give a boost

The Welsh international took part in parts of Wednesday’s final lunchtime session and could be back in the matchday squad – he also played his last game at Hampden Park with local rivals. There is no question that for Rangers, who are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Leipzig in the first leg, the presence of their most experienced professional (73 European Cup appearances) would provide an extra boost.

Roofe, meanwhile, can certainly be expected in the Rangers starting line-up. The rehabilitation measures of the past two weeks seem to have paid off – including stays in the oxygen chamber. On Tuesday, the attacker posted an Instagram photo from the oxygen chamber with his thumbs up
