Riding accident: Tennis star seriously injured

Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut suffers a more complicated injury in his home country. A tournament director comments.

Spanish tennis pro Roberto Bautista Agut has broken his left foot in a horse riding accident and will not be able to defend his title at next week’s clay court tournament in Kitzbühel. This was announced by the organisers on Thursday.

According to the report, the 35-year-old, the world number nine in 2019, was trying to relax on a horseback ride at his home when the mishap occurred. The former Wimbledon semi-finalist is facing a lengthy forced break.

“He even sent us a photo of the broken foot and apologised, that’s how crestfallen he was,” said tournament director Alexander Antonitsch.
