Return to Munich: Nübel names clear condition

In the difficult year he had to endure on the Bayern substitutes’ bench in 2020/21, Alexander Nübel never commented, nor since his move to Monaco.

Alexander Nübel looks relaxed, he’s fine. 20 degrees in autumn takes some getting used to for the professional coming from Germany, but is of course highly pleasant.

He relates this statement to his private life in Monaco as well as football with the local Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club, AS for short. “I play twice a week at a high level, that was my goal.” They are currently only 11th in the league, but Nübel and colleagues are leading their group in the Europa League ahead of Real Sociedad, Eindhoven and Graz.

Nübel: “The year at FC Bayern was not a lost year “

Internationally there were two goals conceded in four games, nationally 16 in 13 games. A total of four times the score was zero. “The statistics could look better”, says the keeper, “but I’m not dissatisfied” After a bumpy start, his performance is stabilising, though Nübel admits: “I’m not where I want to be yet.”

The cooperation with the AS defence still needs to solidify, and the one year at FC Bayern with only four competitive games is still having an effect. “Nübel calls his time in Munich “a double-edged sword”, but overall he sees it as “progress for me” and clarifies: “The year at FC Bayern was not a lost year.
