Return after scandal: ‘Agurin’ is to provide its own Prime League team

The vacant NNO place in the Prime League is to be taken over by a former professional from the organization: ‘Agurin’. He was only suspended in August – and is apparently getting a player with his own scandalous history.

He caused a stir in the recent past – but he’ll probably be back soon. As a result of NNO’s withdrawal from the Prime League, streamer Muhammed ‘Agurin’ Kocak is expected to take the place of his organization, according to eSports information. This has not yet been officially confirmed.

The former NNO player wants to get back on track in Division 1. For this new beginning, he is apparently bringing none other than Jona ‘Reptile’ Fritz to his side. The German botlaner last played in Fnatic’s Academy team – and has his own scandalous history.

In 2023, Fritz was fired by the British team after he logged into a stream on an account called ‘Hitler199’. He later said that he had shared the access data and that a friend had changed the account name without his knowledge. To understand ‘Agurins’ decision for ‘Reptile’ and the alleged Prime League return, it’s worth taking a look at the past few months.

The two cases of ‘Agurin’ and NNO

Last August, ‘Agurin’ caused a scandal when he attracted attention in a ranked game with verbal gaffes. During a match, he repeatedly urged an opponent in English to take his own life. The Prime League reacted promptly by banning him for the rest of the split and the cup qualifier.

NNO’s departure from the league was also not without controversy. The team was originally formed around streamer Frederik ‘NoWay’ Hinteregger. ‘Agurin’ was also part of the squad until the Division 1 spot was filled with other players and the team itself went into Division 3.

Things went well for the new team. They won the Spring Split 2024 and made it to the Prime League Cup final. However, there were disputes with opponents Unicorns of Love and the organizers. A bug and the reaction of the league administration led to the team’s withdrawal.

Consequence and second chance?

The imminent comeback of ‘Agurin’ is also a topic of discussion among other Division 1 teams. Darius Zähringer-Mertins is the founder and leader of TeamOrangeGaming (TOG). The organization only recently acquired its new place in the elite class.

Zähringer-Mertins takes a pragmatic view of the streamer’s return: “The Prime League did the absolutely right thing back then – regardless of who was affected. Penalties and bans must be enforced consistently.” At the same time, however, he advocates giving players a second chance.

‘Agurin’ could be given a second chance with the vacant league place. Zähringer-Mertins has also noticed the whole NNO uproar. His team would have handled the situation differently. “We keep something like that internal and don’t take it to the public,” said Zähringer-Mertins, “It’s something that would have looked good on both teams.”

‘Agurins’ prospects in the split

‘Agurin’ proved once again in December what he can do. Together with ‘NoWay’ and other streamer colleagues, he competed in the Red Bull League of Its Own. There they defeated the reigning world champion T1 1-0. ‘Reptile’ has also had success in the Prime League. Despite the quality of both players, Team ‘Agurin’ would probably have a hard time in the upcoming season.

It is not yet known who the remaining members of the roster will be. The jungle botlane duo still needs three more teammates. With the league starting as early as mid-January, time is running out. If the squad positions are filled in time, the team will still face experienced opponents such as Unicorns of Love or Eintracht Spandau.
