Dubai – Tennis star Novak Djokovic is aiming for a comeback on the Dubai court after the chaos surrounding the denial of his entry to Australia, according to consistent media reports.
The 34-year-old Serb, who has not spoken publicly after being forced to return home, is reportedly on the entry list for the ATP tournament in Dubai from 14-26 February. An official notice was missing on the website of the organisers in the United Arab Emirates.
Djokovic, who had not been vaccinated against Covid-19, had had to leave Australia shortly before the start of the Australian Open in mid-January. The world number one and record champion of the Grand Slam tournament had failed with an appeal against the cancellation of his visa before the Federal Court. Strict Corona rules apply in Australia; in principle, only people fully protected against the virus are allowed to enter the country. In the United Arab Emirates, a negative PCR test is usually sufficient.
