Yamaha cannot offer Toprak Razgatlioglu a place for the 2023 MotoGP season: Manager Kenan Sofuoglu plans to knock on doors of all manufacturers for 2024
World Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu will continue to race in the World Superbike Championship in the 2023 season. This has been confirmed by manager Kenan Sofuoglu. Yamaha cannot offer Razgatlioglu a place in MotoGP. Franco Morbidelli has a contract for 2023, while champion Fabio Quartararo’s contract was most recently extended by two years.
With Yamaha no longer having a MotoGP customer team from the 2023 season, there are no vacancies. Razgatlioglu, who looks back on a “positive” MotoGP test at Aragon , will not be able to move up to the premier class until 2024 at the earliest.
“Yamaha has extended the contract with Quartararo. So Toprak will not get a chance,” manager Kenan Sofuoglu states to ‘MotoGP.com’. “They talked about a B team, but I made it clear to Yamaha every time that we were never interested in a B team in MotoGP. If we move to MotoGP, it will be to a factory team. Otherwise we are not interested. “
“Yamaha has lost the customer team and only has the factory team. So we will stay in the World Superbike Championship next year,” underlines the manager of Superbike champion Razgatlioglu. In the summer of 2021, Razgatlioglu signed with Yamaha for two more years. This agreement will come to an end next year.
“One thing is clear: in 2024 we can talk to all manufacturers and all MotoGP teams,” commented manager Sofuoglu. “If Toprak moves to the MotoGP paddock, it will not be with a B team but exclusively with a factory team. Otherwise he will stay in the World Superbike Championship. I only put my riders in factory teams. “
