Rangers mourn death of goalkeeper of the century Goram

Andy Goram, seriously ill with cancer, has passed away at the age of 58. Glasgow Rangers mourn the loss of a club legend

At the end of May, Goram had publicly announced his serious illness, revealing that he had about six months to live. Now it was less than two: the former Scottish national goalkeeper has lost his battle against cancer.

The England-born Goram, who had made a conscious decision not to undergo chemotherapy, was 58. He had spent his greatest time in club football with Glasgow Rangers, with whom he celebrated five championships in the 1990s. Not long after, Rangers fans voted him their Goalkeeper of the Century.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram,” Rangers announced in an official statement on Saturday. “The thoughts of the directors, management, players and staff are with Andy’s family. “
