Indian Wells – Tennis star Rafael Nadal has reached the quarter-finals of the Masters in Indian Wells and extended his impressive winning streak.
The 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5) win over Reilly Opelka on Wednesday was his 17th in a row and the 35-year-old Spaniard has yet to lose a match this year. In the quarter-finals, Nadal will meet Australian Nick Kyrgios, who progressed to the next round without a fight because his opponent Jannik Sinner of Italy withdrew before the clash due to an unspecified illness.
After the early exits of Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, fourth seed Nadal is now the top favourite to win one of the most important ATP tournaments of the season. The hard-court event in the California desert is endowed with around 8.6 million US dollars. At the Australian Open, Nadal won his 21st Grand Slam title – more than any other tennis professional before.
