QPR – Bristol City Preview: All Signs Point in One Direction

Two mid-table teams from last season meet at QPR’s Loftus Road in London. The Rangers are coming off a humiliating 7-1 loss to West Bromwich at the weekend which has them pinned at the bottom of the table with zero points and ten conceded goals after three matches, their worst ever start to a season.

Manager Steve McClaren was visibly distraught after the contest.

“I’m shocked, I couldn’t believe the collapse,”

“It’s unacceptable, we can’t have that. It’s unacceptable for the fans, it’s unacceptable for the club and now we have to react on Tuesday.”

“Goals change games but we can’t react like that, it’s unacceptable and we mustn’t let that happen again.”

QPR will have no option but to bounce back and they have the perfect opponent to do so as they are unbeaten in their last 16 home games against Bristol City in all competitions (W9, D7). The last time Queen’s Park Rangers lost to Bristol City was all the way back in 1977 (41 years ago). The Robins haven’t kept a clean sheet at QPR’s home ground since 2001, while The Rangers have lost only one of their last 21 home league matches on a Tuesday. Those are two more signs pointing in Queen’s Park Rangers’ direction.

Bristol City is winless as well, drawing their first two games before losing to table-topper Middlesbrough this weekend.

Bristol City injury update

Nathan Baker, Bailey Wright, Taylor Moore and Jens Hegeler are all Bristol City defenders dealing with injuries. As a result, manager Lee Johnson had to pair Eros Pisano and Adam Webster at the centre of his defensive unit in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Middlesbrough. Striker Famara Diedhiou is still serving his ban earned when he spit on a Birmingham player back in April.

The match starts at 20:45 CET and is one of four Championship games being played today.
