Further step towards comeback: former world champion Marc Marquez trains with a Honda CBR600RR on the Grand Prix track not far from his home town
MotoGP rider Marc Marquez continues to make progress in his recovery. After weeks of not being able to train, the Spaniard surprised everyone with a motocross test a week ago. Shortly after, he got on the Honda RC213V-S in Portimao (for reaction to the test) and confirmed that he has no problems with vision.
On Thursday, Marquez set up camp at the Grand Prix circuit in Aragon. The Honda factory rider trained with a Supersport bike. Marquez was piloting a Honda CBR600RR painted in the classic HRC colours.
Marquez last rode in the spectacular MotoGP race in Aragon in mid-September. On that occasion he was narrowly defeated by Ducati factory rider Francesco Bagnaia, who celebrated his first MotoGP victory.
Marquez went on to win two more MotoGP races after the Aragon Grand Prix. After the victories in Austin and Misano, a setback followed. During off-road training Marquez crashed and subsequently complained of problems with his vision (which had happened).
At the beginning of February, the MotoGP teams will test in Sepang. Then Marquez will be back on a MotoGP bike for the first time since his victory in Misano.
The two days of testing at the Sepang International Circuit will be followed by three more days of testing at the new Mandalika Street Circuit in Indonesia before the season starts in Qatar (for the 2022 MotoGP calendar) in early March.
