Following the summer break, F1 is back this weekend as the Belgian Grand Prix gets underway. Hamilton has put some distance between himself and Vettel but knows that there is still plenty of work to do to ensure he takes the Drivers Championship again in 2018.
The view from the Mercedes team
Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff outlined how they won’t be taking anything for granted: “It’s very difficult to make any predictions for Spa. If this season has taught us one thing, it’s that there are no clear favourites for specific tracks anymore and that it’s not always the fastest car that wins.”

The event has a special meaning for Max Verstappen, who was born just an hour away from the Spa track and the place he regards as his home race. He also really likes the track for the type of race it provides, saying: “Turn 10 is one of the fastest and coolest corners on the calendar. Spa is good for overtaking, has big slipstreams and is high speed – so it’s a fun track. What’s not to like?”
After a one-month break, F1 fans will be excited that the F1 fixtures are back and the next few races include the Italy GP, Singapore and Russia. There could well be a few more twists and turns in terms of the Constructor Standings as well as the Driver’s Championship results.
