Poulsen leaves Danish national team early for Leipzig

The struggling Yussuf Poulsen (27) has left the quarters of the Danish national team and returns to RB Leipzig early. This was announced by the Danish association.

Poulsen had already been substituted injured shortly before half-time – as was ex-Dortmund Thomas Delaney – in the 2:4 against the Netherlands in Amsterdam on Saturday, when Christian Eriksen celebrated a furious comeback. The RB striker had possibly injured his groin. As a result, he will miss Denmark’s match against Serbia in Copenhagen on Tuesday.

Poulsen was last forced to take a break from mid-November until the end of last year with a torn muscle fibre. In recent weeks, the Dane had returned to more playing time.

Leipzig’s coach Domenico Tedesco, however, relies mainly on the duo André Silva and Christopher Nkunku in attack. Poulsen was often left with only the role of wild card. In ten league games so far this year, he has only managed one goal.
