FC Barcelona’s appeal against the date of the postponed league game against CA Osasuna has been rejected.
On Thursday, FC Barcelona’s appeal against the rescheduling of the league game against CA Osasuna was rejected. The Spanish Football Federation’s Appeals Committee decided that the date of March 27 must be maintained. This date had been set after the match originally scheduled for March 8 was canceled due to the death of Barca club doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia.
Raphinha and Araujo are on their way
The Catalans had objected to the date of the rescheduling on the grounds that some professionals would not have “enough time to rest” after their international trip. The Brazilian Raphinha (March 26, 1 a.m. CET in Buenos Aires against Argentina) and the Uruguayan Ronald Araujo (March 25, 9 p.m. CET in El Alto against Bolivia) were still playing for their national teams in South America shortly before.
The committee did not accept this as an argument. The appeal to the national team is “not a sufficient reason to postpone a game if the team concerned has enough players to play the game,” was the reasoning of the appeals committee not to accept Barcelona’s objection.
Not only Barca, but also opponents Osasuna had lodged an appeal, as the rest period until the next game at Athletic Bilbao is less than 72 hours. This game has now been rescheduled from March 28 to March 30.
