The VfL Osnabrück must do without captain Marc Heider for the time being. The top performer has tested positive for the coronavirus – as has Ulrich Taffertshofer.
The Purple and Whites, who are currently in second place in the 3rd division, made the announcement on Saturday lunchtime. The regular tests showed “that Ulrich Taffertshofer and Marc Heider had tested positive for the coronavirus “, according to the Osnabrück website. However, both are doing well, showing mild symptoms and are in quarantine.
Heider is not only captain of the VfL, but also the best scorer (six goals, also best value at the VfL, and three assists) in coach Daniel Scherning’s team. The 35-year-old attacker has started in all 15 league games so far. Taffertshofer, who is also a member of the team council, was only absent from central midfield on the first matchday. The 29-year-old was also always in the starting eleven.
Mannheim match probably not in jeopardy
The other, “multiple tests of the remaining players and members of the function team have all been negative,” stated the Osnabrück side. “The rapid antigen tests still carried out on Saturday morning before the departure to Mannheim have again shown a negative result for all of them.” The match on Sunday at Waldhof Mannheim is therefore to take place as planned.
Nevertheless, Lila-Weiß is “in close exchange with the German Football Association, SV Waldhof Mannheim and the responsible health authorities”.
