Cristiano Ronaldo has been let off with a warning for an incident after Manchester United’s away game at Everton FC in April.
There is currently new speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future every day, which is why he took to Instagram to complain about the media “lies” and announced that he would bring the “truth” to light “in a few weeks”. On Wednesday, he hit the headlines for another reason – an incident from the previous Premier League season caught up with him.
After Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at relegation candidates Everton FC, videos emerged that apparently showed the Portuguese knocking a smartphone out of a young fan’s hand as he walked off the pitch towards the players’ tunnel. Ronaldo publicly apologised for his “outburst” a little later, but the police nevertheless launched an investigation. These have now ended with a warning.
“We can confirm that a 37-year-old man has voluntarily appeared for questioning in relation to allegations of assault and criminal damage,” Merseyside Police announced on Wednesday. “The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April. The matter has been dealt with in the form of a conditional caution. The matter is now closed. “
