Pogba Ruing Missed Chances After United’s ‘Bizarre’ Loss to Tottenham

In the wake of the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham on Monday night, Mourinho’s press conference comments have been widely ridiculed after he said his team were so good strategically and then went on to demand respect before storming out. Now World Cup winner Paul Pogba has had his say on the performance, where United started brightly and looked on top for the first half.

He said: “It’s bizarre. We were determined, we started well, and in the end, we lost 3-0. It’s a shock.

Even we don’t understand what happened. We started the game really well. The first goal was a real blow.”

Two losses from three games for United

United had already lost in the previous game against Brighton, so the pressure is really ramping up now. The fact that Mourinho used the 3-0 scoreline to brag about his own achievements before he went to United will have angered the fans even more than the poor start to the season. It seems as though time is running out for the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ as more names are being linked with his job on a daily basis.

Next up – Burnley away

Alexis Sanchez vs Trippier

Manchester United’s next fixture is away to Burnley on Sunday and anything other than a win will be seen as a disaster for them. Players like Pogba are not turning up in the big games when it matters, Alexis Sanchez has not justified his astronomical wages and they look like a team that has no cohesion.

Lukaku’s miss was punished

Lukaku vs Tottenham

In the first half against Tottenham, it looked as though United might have turned a corner and we’re back to their best. However, they were unable to capitalise on their possession and a glaring miss by Lukaku summed up how woeful they have been playing. It looked as though it would have been easier to score than to miss, as the goal stood empty, only for Lukaku to slice it wide of the post.

You simply cannot allow a team like Tottenham to come back into the game though, especially when you have players like Harry Kane who will make no mistake in front of goal. He headed Spurs into the lead before the outstanding Lucas Moura scored twice to leave the United defence with their heads in their hands and fans flooding out of the stadium well before the final whistle.
