SC Paderborn can also plan with goalkeeper Jannik Huth in the coming seasons. The regular keeper of the East Westphalians extended his contract on Tuesday.
On Monday, Paderborn announced that head of defence Uwe Hünemeier would stay with the SCP for another year – a day later, goalkeeper Huth followed suit. The 27-year-old came to the Pader from Mainz 05 in the summer of 2019, was initially set there in the Bundesliga season, but then lost his regular place to Leopold Zingerle.
This season, Huth reclaimed his place between the posts and has played in all 18 games so far from the start – scoring three times in the process.
“Valuable backstop “
“Jannik has become a valuable back-up for our team. He radiates calmness and is an above-average goalkeeper with playmaking qualities. With these qualities, he fits in very well with our playing philosophy,” said Fabian Wohlgemuth, managing director of sport at SCP, explaining the contract extension.
Huth’s contract would have expired next summer, his new contract is now valid until 30 June 2024.
