Petrucci on Miller’s move to KTM: “Hope Jack is luckier than me”

Just like Danilo Petrucci, Jack Miller will move from Ducati to KTM after this MotoGP season – What his ex-teammate thinks of this move

At the end of 2021 Danilo Petrucci left MotoGP after a mixed season with KTM’s customer team. The switch from Ducati to the Austrian brand had not worked out for the Italian. But he is confident that things will go better for his ex-teammate Jack Miller next year.

The Australian will also be ditching Ducati and moving to KTM. Unlike Petrucci, however, who had a one-year deal with Tech 3 in 2021, Miller was able to secure a two-year contract with the Austrian factory team.

In an interview with ‘Crash.net’, Petrucci reveals: “Two days ago I sent Jack a message telling him that we can now take part in the Dakar together!” Petrucci competed in the Dakar for KTM at the beginning of the year, and on his debut he amazed the crowd with a Dakar stage win.

Better conditions for Miller

“But all joking aside, I’m really happy for Jack,” he continues. “We were together at Pramac and then we more or less went the same way: Pramac, factory team and now KTM. And I hope he has more luck than me.”

He says the conditions are better than his: “To be in the KTM factory team for two years is a much, much better opportunity. I am happy for him. It’s no secret that I root for Jack in MotoGP. I would love to see him win because he is a really good guy. I think he’ll do well. “

From Petrucci’s point of view, two important KTM employees will also contribute to this: technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini and team manager Francesco Guidotti, who were both previously in the service of Ducati and whom the Italian therefore knows well.

Ducati people now strengthen KTM

“Now there are two people at KTM who helped me during my time at Ducati: Guidotti and Sterlacchini. I was one of the ones who tried to lure them away from Ducati when I was at KTM – unfortunately they came when I left,” Petrucci reveals about the two new arrivals.

The 31-year-old insists: “After so many years in MotoGP, I still have a great relationship with most of the people I met in the paddock, including the KTM and Ducati people. And I hope they can do a good job for Jack at KTM in the coming years. “
