Alexander Zverev is looking for his form. Former pro Andrea Petkovic knows someone who could help.
The former tennis player and current TV expert Andrea Petkovic would like to see Boris Becker and Alexander Zverev work together. “I think Boris could help Sasha a lot,” Petkovic said on Sky. “I also think they are in contact. I know they are in contact and that there is great communication between them and that there is already a certain relationship between them.”
Zverev has been in a sporting crisis since losing the final at the Australian Open at the end of January and has recently been eliminated several times. Next week, the world number two will compete in the Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo.
Becker has recently ruled out coaching
Tennis legend Becker worked very successfully with Novak Djokovic from 2013 to 2016, leading the Serb to several Grand Slam titles. Since then, the 57-year-old has only worked briefly as the coach of the Dane Holger Rune at the end of 2023 and has repeatedly ruled out a permanent collaboration with Zverev.
Becker describes himself as a friend of the Zverev family, but the three-time Wimbledon champion has always said that his various professional activities do not allow for a coaching job because of the extensive travel involved. Among other things, Becker works as a TV expert and also has a podcast with Petkovic, in which they both regularly analyze tennis events.
