The search for a coach at Türkgücü München continues to drag on, which will earn the club a penalty. The new man is to be presented soon – Alper Kayabunar will then bring him up to speed.
On 23 November Türkgücü parted company with Peter Hyballa. Co-coach Alper Kayabunar took over on an interim basis. However, the search for a coach dragged on, and the Munich club has still not been able to find a successor. This will earn the club a fine from the DFB. As usual in German professional football, the club has 15 working days after the dismissal of the old coach to present a successor with the necessary licence.
Kayabunar does not have this licence – and almost a month has passed since 23 November. “I now have to see who the new coach will be and what his plans are. I will then tell him my impressions. But the head is of course very important,” said the interim coach on Saturday after the late 2:2 against Verl. After three points from four games, he stressed: “I’m glad that I don’t have to hand the team over in a relegation spot. “
The Munich side are in 16th place and thus just above the line. The lead is only two points, which is why the team faces a tricky remaining season. “The new coach should have experience in the relegation battle, that could have been abroad,” managing director Max Kothny had already said about the new head coach – who has not yet been named, but is expected to be presented in the coming week.
The team is to go to training camp on 2 January
And for the coach things will start relatively quickly. After a short break, Türkgücü will continue in the league on 15 January with a visit to Halle, where a new coach will also be on the bench. On 2 January, unless the new coach has other plans, the Munich team will fly to Belek (Turkey) for the training camp. “Of course I will quickly go into exchange with the new coach and we will meet. But we still have to wait to see who it will be,” Kayabunar can’t make any big plans either. But one thing is certain for the interim coach: “It was a special time to be head coach. It was a great experience with the players who made it very easy for me just like our coaching team.”
