The Golden State Warriors are set to be rebuffed with Patrick McCaw expected to decline their two-year $5.2 million offer. The restricted free agent has now missed practice for the fifth time, as his future hangs in the air.

Deadline for an agreement was Monday
After his second season in the NBA where he picked up a pair of championship rings, it is thought that McCaw is holding out for a better deal with Warriors. Monday was the deadline for Patrick McCaw to agree his $1.7 million qualifying offer from Warriors for this NBA season.
McCaw’s qualifying offer was thought to be a one-year deal, leaving him as a potential restricted free agent again the following year. Then news broke that he had been offered the two-year deal, which he had chosen to turn down.

McCaw could be an unrestricted free agent in 2020
Turning down the deal would leave him as an unrestricted free agent in 2020, leaving him able to join another team. As it stands, if a team does make him an offer, Warriors just need to match the offer to keep him.
With the new season just about to start, this has ruffled some feathers over at Warriors who would probably have been expecting much more straightforward negotiations with the player.
Warriors start the season on 17 October
Warriors face preseason games against Kings, Suns, and Lakers before they start the NBA season against Thunder on 17 October at the Oracle Arena. It will be interesting to see where McCaw is up to by the time that game comes around but this is not how Warriors will have wanted to go into the preseason.
