It has long been an open secret, but now the clubs have also confirmed it: Aurele Amenda will be wearing the Eintracht Frankfurt jersey next season. The 20-year-old brings Champions League experience from Switzerland with him
Aurele Amenda has made four appearances for BSC Young Boys this Champions League season, but has yet to earn any laurels in the duels against RB Leipzig. However, at just 20 years of age, the central defender is considered to have a promising future – also by those responsible at Eintracht Frankfurt.
They have now struck a deal and tied Amenda to the eagle bearers for five years from next summer. This was announced by Eintracht on Wednesday. The hoped-for signing for the second half of the current season had previously fallen through, as the Swiss side had been unable to find a successor in a hurry
“Aurele is a highly talented player who has already gained international experience at a young age,” Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche is quoted as saying. He is quick and very strong with his header, and he also has a good build-up play.”
Frankfurt’s squad planners will be hoping that the 1.94-meter right-footed Amenda will have the same impact as left-footed Willian Pacho. The Colombian had a similar experience a year ago: In the winter, it leaked out that SGE had secured the then 21-year-old from a neighboring minor league (Belgium) for the summer.
Without a settling-in period, Pacho then became a highly stable anchor in the defense – and is now attracting interest from even more financially strong clubs.
Amenda, who almost always plays in a back four at Young Boys, will probably compete with Tuta for a place. The Brazilian made two very poor appearances in Darmstadt and Cologne at the start of the second half of the season.
Eintracht had already announced their first summer transfer for 2024 at the beginning of September 2023: Offensive player Krisztian Lisztes, son of the former Bundesliga professional of the same name, arrives from Ferencvaros Budapest.
