Mesut Özil has been side-tracked somewhat near Arsenal and the German seems to be leaving the Londoners in the foreseeable future. The German possesses a contract that expires and Manchester United, among others, would like to take over Özil. Robert Pirès, former midfielder of the Gunners, thinks that the player is disappointed by the club’s strength in the transfer market last summer.
“Özil is a warrior who wants to win something and at the moment he gives the impression that he is frustrated that Arsenal has not been able to bring together a selection that can win something”, says the Frenchman in conversation with BILD,”They have only spent money on Alexandre Lacazette (53 million euros, ed.). That’s not enough to join the title battle,” The title fight.
“It is incredibly difficult to keep on running at the top of England,” continues Pirès,”but I still believe in Arsenal and especially in the manager, Arsène Wenger. I think it’s good that he has just signed a new two-year contract:” After the 2-1 defeat last Saturday against Watford, Arsenal in the Premier League ranks nine points behind Manchester City.
Do you think Mesut Özil is working on his last season at Arsenal?
