Jonas Hofmann is also likely to be part of Leverkusen’s starting eleven on Saturday in Wolfsburg. Not only because coach Xabi Alonso prefers not to change his starting lineup at all in the league. But especially because the 31-year-old has hit the ground running at Leverkusen following his move from Borussia Mönchengladbach. This can also be proven in purely statistical terms: Hofmann has not failed to score in a single Bundesliga match for Bayer 04, has been directly involved in at least one goal in all seven games, and has scored four goals and provided four assists.
Hofmann beckons a Bundesliga record
If the right-footer manages to continue this series on Saturday in Wolfsburg, he would set a Bundesliga record. So far, only Mark Uth (2019/20 for 1. FC Köln) and Luca Toni (1988/89 for Bayern Munich) have managed to score at least one goal in their first eight Bundesliga games for their new club. Now this high score beckons to Hofmann, which would ensure that his performances are even more in the spotlight.
