Meta change in UFL? Strikerz Inc. takes on the extremely strong high flank changes in the latest update. The AI-controlled defense is being upgraded to counter this.
Manual defense has been a difficult task in the EA SPORTS football series for years – many players therefore leave the defensive work to the AI in FC 25. Accordingly, UFL was refreshingly different when it was released in December, as the main focus was still on manual defense. However, the new update could permanently shift the balance, which has been changing for weeks anyway, in favor of the CPU.
Developer Strikerz Inc. is addressing automatic defensive behavior via patch. In pressing, the “intensity of movement” has been increased – opponents should be covered more closely. This applies to the entire defense line, even when dealing with the opponent’s front line. When opponents make deep runs, they will be followed more energetically in the future, and the basic width of the line will be increased. In addition, central defenders will have more freedom to press on the wings.
High crosses no longer meta?
At the same time, Strikerz Inc. is taking on meta-passes. In UFL, high crosses – especially on first touch – have been extremely effective so far. Their precision will be reduced with the new update, and the same will happen to the accuracy of passes from “difficult positions”.
The expansion of the training mode should be particularly pleasing for newcomers. Scenarios for penalty kicks, free kicks and corners have been added to the previously rigid 1v1 against the keeper. In addition, the developer wants to have improved the logic of the goalkeepers and given them new animations.
Update 0.61.1 was released on Tuesday morning and is available for download. The complete patch notes can be found on the corresponding UFL subpage.
