Olympic champion Djokovic decides not to play in Cincinnati

Last year, Djokovic won Cincinnati for the third time. He will not be defending his title

Olympic tennis champion Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati after winning gold in Paris. “Of course we understand that it’s a short time from his Olympic triumph to our tournament,” said Tournament Director Bob Moran.

The 37-year-old Serb won his first Olympic gold medal last Sunday in Paris in a memorable final against Carlos Alcaraz from Spain. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has won the hard-court tournament in Cincinnati, which also serves as preparation for the US Open in New York, three times so far.
