“Noticeable uncertainty in the team”: Halle sacks Schnorrenberg

After winning just one point from their last six games, Hallesche FC pulled the ripcord on Tuesday and suspended head coach Florian Schnorrenberg.

Despite considerable injury worries in recent months, HFC were still keeping up well in the 3rd division at the start of the season. There is hardly any sign of that now: After the disappointing 1:4 at SV Meppen at the end of the year and the fifth defeat in the sixth league match, the lead over the first relegation place is only three points. Halle are currently 14th in the table with 22 points from 20 games.

“The recent trend “
, HFC President Jens Rauschenbach explained the parting of ways with the coach, “with only six points from the past ten games, the only narrow lead over the relegation places and the team’s noticeable uncertainty made us come to the joint conviction that action was needed.” Rauschenbach thanked the coach for his work, “especially for achieving class preservation in a very difficult situation directly after taking over in June 2020.”

Schnorrenberg took over HFC in 2020 seven matchdays before the end of the season, leading them to 15th place and ninth last season. The 44-year-old previously coached current Oberliga side TuS Erndtebrück, whom he twice led to promotion to the Regionalliga West, and Sonnenhof Großaspach from October 2018 to May 2019.

The first training session after the winter break is scheduled to take place on 2 January. The aim of those responsible is for this to already be led by the new head coach.
