No start in Cordoba: Thiem’s comeback delayed

Berlin – Tennis star Dominic Thiem’s comeback has been delayed further

The 28-year-old Austrian will now also not compete at the ATP tournament in Cordoba, Argentina, the organisers announced via Twitter. Thiem has already had to take a break since June 2021 due to a right wrist injury. “The positive thing is, the wrist is completely fine. But my hand hurts and I miss training,” he said in a video released by the Argentine organisers.

Thiem had also previously foregone his start at the just-concluded Australian Open and was set to return to the tour at the Cordoba Open. The 2020 US Open winner suffered the hand injury on 22 June at the grass court tournament in Mallorca.
