No Formula 1 cockpit again: This is how Mick Schumacher reacts

Mick Schumacher will not be a Formula 1 regular driver in the 2025 season either: Schumacher posts an emotional message on social media

“Life doesn’t always go according to plan,” writes Mick Schumacher in a Facebook post. The 25-year-old is reacting to the recent cancellations from Formula 1. Schumacher had actually hoped to get a regular cockpit again for the 2025 season. However, these hopes have gradually been dashed.

Schumacher is apparently not giving up on his dream of returning to Formula 1, but is showing himself to be combative: “Every challenge is an opportunity to learn, to grow and to become even better.”

The fact that he was not considered for 2025 is “only one chapter, not the whole story,” writes Schumacher. He assures: “The journey continues. I am determined to master it.”

However, it remains unclear what Schumacher has planned for the 2025 motorsport season. Staying with Alpine in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the clear highlight of the year being the Le Mans 24 Hours would be logical; after all, Schumacher made a name for himself in his first year in the championship in 2024 and impressed with good speed.

Another possibility is a dual program: in 2024, Schumacher combined his WEC project with Alpine with a test driver role with Mercedes in Formula 1. As a reserve driver, Schumacher traveled to many races with the Silver Arrows team, but primarily completed a number of simulator sessions, thus contributing to the individual tuning and technical development of the Mercedes W15.

Mick Schumacher’s F1 comeback “rather unrealistic”

His last Grand Prix to date as a Formula 1 regular driver was almost exactly two years ago: On November 20, 2022, Schumacher competed in the season finale in Abu Dhabi as a Haas driver and finished in P16 without scoring any points. Prior to that, Schumacher had scored a total of twelve World Championship points in two years with the US team Haas, with sixth place at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg as his personal best.

Subsequently, Schumacher was rejected by several teams for the 2023 season, which was repeated in 2024: Mercedes, as the successor to Lewis Hamilton, did not promote test driver Schumacher, but rather Formula 2 newcomer Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Alpine also puts a Formula 1 rookie in the car with Jack Doohan, just like Sauber with Gabriel Bortoleto as Nico Hülkenberg’s teammate.

Now, Schumacher’s uncle Ralf Schumacher was talking to Sky, saying that the topic of Formula 1 is “now rather unrealistic” for his nephew. However, Ralf Schumacher does not want to completely rule out a Mick comeback: “Formula 1 is a crazy business. That means something could always come up. But I think it’s going to be rather difficult after being out of it for such a long time.”
