Alba Berlin has also lost the second game of the double-header in the EuroLeague. After the defeat against Paris on Tuesday, the Albatrosses now lost to Anadolu Efes by a clear margin of 70:86.
The visitors from Turkey had an easy game for most of the time, with Berlin only staging a brief comeback in the second period when they reduced the deficit to 31:37 with an 8:0 run. However, it was only a brief flurry of activity, after which Anadolu produced a 14:2 run and then had no more problems as the game progressed.
Berlin only had 11 players available, two of whom were the youngsters Anton Nufer and Amon Dörries, who are actually scheduled to play for the B team. With Matteo Spagnolo, Yanni Wetzell, Malte Delow, Jonas Mattisseck and Matt Thomas, five players were again missing through injury, and center Khalifa Koumadje was suspended.
The Berlin team again scored hardly any points from outside, conceded too many turnovers and found hardly any solutions against the Turkish guards. Although star point guard Shane Larkin was missing, Darius Thompson (9 points, 8 assists), Roddy Beaubois (14, 4/6 three-pointers) and Elijah Bryant (10, 5 rebounds) were able to shine. The two former NBA players Jordan Nwora (16) and big man Daniel Oturo (16) also put in a strong performance. German international Justus Hollatz was allowed on court for the last seven minutes and managed to collect three assists.
Martin Hermannsson (24, 8/13) and Trevion Williams (16, 7/14, 8 rebounds) were once again the best players for Alba, but the duo were also responsible for 11 of Berlin’s 17 turnovers. Gabriele Procida (10) was the only other player to score in double figures. Williams then had to leave the court bleeding with two minutes remaining after being hit in the elbow by Rolands Smits. The Albatrosses remain bottom of the EuroLeague with just one win from seven games. Next week, Berlin travel to Red Star Belgrade on Thursday (7 p.m.). In the German league, they face Bamberg Baskets on Sunday (3 p.m. live on Dyn).
